The entries to-day were heavy in tho fat cattle and spring lamb sections, but were , normal in fat sheep. Spring lambs.—s2o were entered, compared with 162 last week. The big entry met with a drop of 4b to os a. bead, tbe average price, -per lb. being about 6d. The bulk of the better lauibs made from 15s to 16s Cd; and secondary from 12s to 14s 6d. Fat sheep.—Close on 5000 were peuned. with fewer southern entries. Thore was a prime sale, with an improvement for heavy ewes and shorn wethers. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 24s 4d; prime heavy 17s to 19s; prime mediumweight 14s 6d to 16s 9d; ordinary 13s to 14s; light 11s to 12s 9d; extra prime heavy ewes to 7s 4d ; prime heavy 14s to 16s; prime medium weight 11s 6d to 13s 6d; ordinary 10s to 11s; light 7s 6d to 9s 6d; extra prime hoggets to 18s Id; prime 14s to 16s; medium 12s to 13s 6d; light 10s to 11s 6d.

Fat cattle.—39o head were entered, mostly prime quality. A big proportion came from South Canterbury and Otago. There was a further easing on account of the large entry, of 20s to 25s a bead. Best beef made to 27s 6<l; good 23s to 265; heavy 20s to•23s; and secondary 17s to 19s per 100 lb. MAIZE MARKET. Maize is still coming to band from the Bay of Plenty, and limited quantities of the last South African shipment are still available. Growers in Poverty Bay have lowered their limits ,and are now quoting from 4s to 4s 3d per bushel f.o.b. Gisborne, but the reduction has uot, so far, attracted many orders from this centre.—Auckland Star.

Prices remained steady, the demand being fairly active at the close of the sale. Extra choice ox sold to 22s per 1001 b., choice and prime 10s to 21s, secondary and plain 10s to ISs, prime young cow and heifer. 17s to 19s; ordinary cow, 12s to 10s. Extra prime steers ranged in price from ■£B 15s to £9 os, heaw prime £7 10 s to £8 12s 6d, lighter £6 10s to £7 7s 6d; light prime £5 10s to £0 7s fid; small and unfinished, £3 15s to £5 7s 6d; extra heavy prime young cows and lieifcrs. £5 10s to £G ss; heavy prime £3 5s to £4 7s (id; others £1 15s to £3 2s 6d.
