MONTHLY MEETING. A very small agenda was laid before the monthly meeting of Cook Hospital Board, which took place yesterday. Present: -Mr. At. T. Trotlord (in the chair), Airs. Beer, Messrs D. \V. Coleman, 11. Adair, G. B. Omun, H. Kenway, F. C. Leggett and H. J. F. Tombleson. Accounts totalling £29-17 os Id wore passed for payment. The Director-General of Health wrote stating that the rate of interest payable by contributing local bodies oil instalments cf levy unpaid fourteen days after the due date nad been reduced from 7 per cent, to Gj per cent.—The letter was received. The treasurer roported that the month of October had opened with a .debit balance of £lO9 ll.s 3d. Cash payments during the month had amouuted to £3590 17s 2d and cash receipts £3055 Gs 9d, leaving a debit balance of £7ll Is 8d at the end of the month. The principal receipts were: Patients’ fees, £466 IBs lid# maintenance levies, £235 17s Sd; dairy farm working £SO ]-**> 2d; pensions and maintenance Memorial. Horne, £165 13s Id. 'the chief payments were: Cook Hospital, £lß*ls 0s 4d; Alemoriul Home, £255 9s 8<l; administration, £132 19s lid; miscellaneous, £2OB 15s sd; outdoor relief, £731 11s od; capital expenditure £2lO. Fees charged during the mouth were £1707 17s Id. The report of the Finance Committee, held on Monday, November IG, stated, inter alia: '‘The treasurer reported that the bank balance at dat e was credit £2147 3s 3d and that after all cheques wero presented the balangc would be credit £G4G 11s lid. The committee recommended that an application he made to incur a bank overdraft up to an amount of £3500 between this date and January 14.” Sister Burgess, Native District Nurse, 'J’e' Karaka, reported having attended and advised 2'G5 eases during October. She visited seven AJaori pas and the Waikoliu School and medically examined children at .six schools. She also lectured the To Karaka Gild Guides ou ‘‘'Jhe Child Nurse.” Sister Pritchard, District Nurse, Matawni, reported having attended and advised CO cases during October. • ■ ‘ The engineer reported on the var ious works carried out during tlm month. The Visiting Committee reported having visited the Alcmorial Home, Hospital and Laundry, and found everything in good order, neat ami clean. The managing .secretary, AL. O. A. Harries, in his report, stated that the present pump at the Memorial Home wa R not efficient, and recommended that a new one be installed at an appropriate cost of £f>. Attached to the repoi\t were {lie usual montli'v returns of stores and provisions issued to wards and Nurses' Home, also a comparative statement of outdoor relief payments. The reports were adopted, and the chairman was authorised to act with the engineer in providing a new pupm for the Alemorial Home. DISTRICT NURSES’ FEES.. The chairman moved, in accordance with notice of motion. “That the following scale of fees shall he fixed as the .maximum charges for attendances and treatment given bv District Nurses, to bo reduced with the consent of the hoard where the nurse considers necessary. A single visit. &v 6d: supplying dressings.
