ANOTHER FATAL CLASH

Fifteen persons, including an Indian magistrate and several forestofficials, were killed and over fifty injured in a clash between a mob of five thousand rioters and police in the forest of Chirnnr, near Panvel, in the Kolaba province of Bombay Presidency.

The congress “war council!” of Panvel prevailed on a, large number of foresters to disobey the forest laws and the police arrested five. A large crowd of sympathisers attacked the police, and killed three forest officials and attempted to rescue the prisoners. The police twice opened fire, butfailed to quel! the disorder, whereupon armed reinforcements were (rushed to the scene from Bombay.

DELHI TRADE RUINED RY BOYCOTT

Unless there is a return to normal within three months, the capital city will permanently lose its position as the distributing centre for northern India. Three-fourths of the shops are now closed.
