B’uring an exceptionally severe gale off the East Coast of Britain, the old cruiser Conquest, winch was in tow for ‘Fife to bo scrapped, broke adrift and the tier which had her in charge signalled all shipping to keep a strict- look-out for the vessel, which was drifting 25 miles south of Flamborough Head. The tug’s message stated that there were six men aboard the cruiser, which, being out of control, was dangerous to navigation.
