MRS. CHARLES HOWLAND.

Alfred (lowland, and daughter Mrs. M. Stallord, in limit sad loss. The funeral will leave the residence of Mr. F. Stafford, Stout street at 2 p.m. to-day for Jaruheru cemetery. MR. SYDNEY SMITH. Following a sudden illness during the, night, the death occurred, about (, o’clock yesterday morning id Mr. Svdncv Smith, of M.angapa.pn, at Hie age of 65 years. On (lie previous day, Mr. Smith appeared in the best of "health, playing a game ol bowls in the afternoon! During the past three years Mr. Smith had been engaged in a bakery business and was a wellknown figure, especially in the Manga papa district. He leaves a widow and grown-up family, to whom the deepest sympathy will be extended in their tragically sudden loss.
