The Methodist Church, Bright Street, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday evening, when Edna, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. H. Lory, of Gisborne* was married to Richard John, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr O. V. Russell, of Gisborne. The Rev. Geo. Frost, officiated, and Miss Wheeler presided at the organ. The lride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a charming dress of white georgette and silver lacg, with tiered skirt edged with silver lace, the veil falling from a mob cap held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms; she wore silver shoes and stockings, and carried a bouquet of white ros.eS. The chief bridesmaid. Miss Gertrude Lory, wore mauve georgette, with scalloped and frilled skirl!, and car' riecl a bouquet to tone. The, other two. bridesmaids. Miss Sylvia Newton and Miss Ethel Russell, wore •lemon and pale-green frocks respectively, designed similar to the dress »f tne chief bridesmaid, _ a'nd all three wore halo caps and silver shoes and stockings. The little flower girl, Miss Shirley Brown, niece of the bride, wore sky-blue frilled georgette with small yoke outlined with rosebuds, and silver halo cap. and she carried a pretty basket of rose petals. Mr A. Craill was best man,sand Messrs N. Lory and Neil Bussell groomsimen. The bride’s mother wore a becoming gown of navy blue pussy-willow with waterfall revers, and ■ rose beach model hat, and she carried a bouquet to tone. Mrs Russell chose biege georgette with von dyke silk laco Skirt and sleeves, and chinoline and bouquet to tone. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the San Toy tea rooms where a sumptuous wedding breakfast, followed by the usual toasts, was partaken of. Later the happy couple, who were the recipients of many handsome presents, left on a honeymoon tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a pussywillow figured frock, with flared skirt, and navy blue coat of the same material, with scarf collar and two scalloped bands on the sleeves.
