(Received October 6, 5.5 p.m.) RIO DE JANIERO, Oct. 5 Sir Geo. Wilkins arrived on the Southern Cross. He dedared he would embark on the Norwegian whaler Hectora at Mont Video and proceed immediately to Deception Island to establish his first base, where he will assemble the planes* Sir G. Wilkins said the expedition will be perfectly organised and he is confident of success. A powerful radio will be established at one base to keep in touch with the expedition and roport to the outside world.
