CHRISTIAN RE-UNION
NOTABLE STEP TOWARDS PROGRESS United Press Assn, by El. Tel. Copyright (Australian Press Association ? (Received. Oct. 7. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct, 5. A new stage in London’s progress towards a Christian re-muon was reached at Cheltenham, when Archbishop Germanos, of the Greek Orthodox Church, stood with two foremost exponents of the German and Danish Lutheran Churches and representatives of five British Free Churches on a platform at a Church Congress. The depth of understanding revealed in their addresses drew the ex-Bisliop of Gloucester to remark that what be had seen and heard encouraged the hope that something might he accomplished in the future in the direction of reunion. “We do not want to make a pact with this or that church”, he said. “Wo are not yet ready, but, if we consider the subjects uppermost today, we must realise, that there will bo an immense gain when we aye allowed to hear’men of other religions in our pulpits and when wo can preach to them.” *
