WASHED OVERBOARD IN STORM SAVED BY CLEVER CAPTAIN United Press Assn, by El. Tel. Oopyriglit (Australian Press Association.) (Received Oct. 7, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 6. During the voyage of the auxiliary schooner Piri, . which arrived .to-day from Greymouth, two seamen, Laing and West, were washed overboard by a huge wave on the evening of September 25. There was no chance of lowering a boat, but Captain Watt manoeuvred the schooner to give the men smooth water on the lee side*, They were aboard again after seventeen minutes’ immersion. The whole voyage was marked by violent storms.
