OPERA HOUSE.

‘WHAT PRICE GLORY:-”

The lighter side of war is effect.vely treated in the film, AAV hat Puce Glory,” which is new screening at the Opera House, and the many humorous situations convulsed the audience. The picture showed that,' although war is a terrible thing, it is possible for some of the participants to obtain enjoyment from i't. The picture, however, is not confined entirely to the funny side, for there are pathetic and dramatic incidents that make one appreciate more the humorous events* as they come, along. The story deals mainly with two members of the United States Army, showing an early enmity that grows between them during service in foreign parts prior to the outbreak o the Great War, into which U.S.A. entered in 1917. Of these two men, Sergeant Flagg and Sergeant Quirt, the former is elevated to the rank c captain by the time they arc sent to Franco* for their biggest engagement. The enmity between them is continued right to near the end ol the' picture. I They are rivals in love, and invariably it is the same girl that claims the attention of both of them. ' The chief character, that of Captain Flagg, is. played by Victor McLaglen and Edmund Lowe is given the character of Sergeant Quirt The chief female character is taken bv Delores Deli Rio, who gives a fine impersonation of Charmaine, an attractive attendant at a French inn at which the old rivals find themselves billeted. The humor, however, is not confined to the mam characters. Evei in a shell hole, with heavy” lire, there is time for amusement and a smile. Before the screening commenced last night an appropriatiWnrologue was staged, which was an admirable introduction- for the picture : this wa'si the singing- of “Charmaine” by Mr' David Clark. The picture will be;, screened again to-night.
