LADIES’ PROVINCIAL CHAMP 1 UNSHIP,

A YELLING TO N, Oct, 19. Play in the AVellington ladies’ provincial golf championship commenced at Heretaunga yesterday, when tyro qualifying rounds for tlie provincial title were decided. The entries constitute a record, and are from all parts of the Dominion. Tliev total 117.

The best scores in the qualifying rounds were, obtained by Miss M. Payton, Rotorua. 86 and 76, a total of 162; ill's. Guy AVilliams, Masterton, 82-—83—165 ; and Miss S-. AVeston, Palmerston - North, 83—82—165. Others who qualified were; Miss 0. Kay, Dunedin; Mm Shader AA’eston, New Plymouth; Miss Seifert, Palmerston North, 167; Miss Acbeson, Nelson, Miss V.
