INFANT DROWNED
AUCKLAND, April 6. The infant son of Howard Meek, carpenter of Huntly, was found drowned in a creek behind his parents’ residence last evening.—P.A. OAR BADLY SMASHED.
COLLISION WITH TRAM
AUCKLAND, April 6,
Smashed to matchwood, the motorcar of Sydney Ernest Chappell, was a complete wreck in Valley Road early this aiternoou, when it was lifted away from the iront of a tram ear that was bound for the city. The accident had occurred through Mr. Chappell failing to notice the tramcar. It was raining heavily at tho time, and his windscreen was blurred. ’ The ear was struck broadside on bv the tram, and -Joseph Chappell, wLo was with the driver, had his hand badly lacerated.—P.A.
TRAM OUT OF CONTROL
MAN INJURED DUMPING OFF
DUNEDIN, April 6. An electric car on a steep grade at Opoho, North-east Valley, Dunedin, at S n.m. to-day got out of control through tlie brake failing to act. The motorman regained control later hut Thomas Win. Hall, 33, married, who jumped off while the ear was running down the slope, is suffering from injuries to the head. Hall is in hospital-—P.A.
FATAL SEIZURE
MAN DLLS SUDDENLY
AUCKLAND, April 6
A married man, 'Wilson Leigh Larva tt, aged 35, suffered a seizure about midday to-day, and died while on tlm way to the hospital. Barratt was a sheet metal worker, and lived in Miro Street. ■Grey Lynn. The doctor was able to give a certificate that death was due "to cerebral haemorrhage.* An inquest will not be necessary.—P.A.
