TE KOOTI’S FLAG
LOST TO THE UR EWER A
NOW IN WANGANUI AfUSEUAI
(Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND, April 6. “Toicml, Torengi, Tarori!” A venerable Alaori at Te Whaiti used those three words when a member of the Auckland Automobile Association, on the occasion of a recent trip there, made inquiries about Te Kootl’s historic war flag. “Gone, vanished, disappeared,” is what the tattooed veteran of the fastnesses of the Urewera wished to convey. As a matter of fact, says the Star, the war flag of Te Kooti is in safe keeper g, and for many years has been in the possession of the Wanganui Museum, although there are reasons why it is not exposed to public view, it :s a queer looking flag. A large square ot dull red cloth, upon which was wor Bled, in relief", by Te Kooti’s wnlimes, strange symbols" and figures.
