FIREWORK DISPLAY

NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT

There is a peculiar fascination about a fireworks display which accounts for the wonderful popularity of this form of open-air entertainment. Folks, old and young delight to stand and gaze on rapidly-revolv-ing wheels throwing off brilliant sparks and showers of flame. Equally appealing is the flight of rockets with their fiery tails and then their ultimate explosion high in air, releasing streams of golden rain and multicolored stars. Each of these striking lines will he induled in the great display which will he fired on the cricket Oval next Friday evening by _ the Wainoni Park Fireworks Company. A feature of this pyrotechnical exhibition will be the firing ,of a number of set pieces in varied design, some of them of a mechanical order, which are propelled by powerful fire-wbeels. Others will be representatives of various emblems while the firing of large batteries of Roman candles will be followed by an excellent set representing a waterfall, a veritable golden cascade. Other novelties will he seen in serpent mines, streams of flame wriggling through the air, while the whirring skywards of brilliant tourbillions will further enchance the novelty of the programme. The Fire Brigade, led by the Gisborne _ City Band, will conduct an illuminated procession through the town to the Oval prior to the display.
