FIRES.
A NARROW ESCPAE. FIRES AT PALMERSTON. NORTH. MAN GETS OUT IN NIGHT ATTIRE PALMERSTON No Jan. 25 Fire this morning gutted a fiveroomed dwelling in Broad street, next to the Methodist Church, owned by P. Gowlishaw. The latter was the sole occupant at the time of the outbreak, and escaped in his night attire through a window. The heat- from the confirm gration damaged seven large Gothic window panels and several smaller panes in the church windows. The insurances are £SOO on the house, and £3OO on the furniture. At 5.30 a.m. the brigade wns called to business premises in the Square, .White House, where.an outbreak had been:-discovered.
