BREAK INTO AND THIEVE FROM TE ARAROA HOTEL WINDOW PANE CAREFULLY REMOVED

How three Natives burglariously entered the-bar of the Te Araroa hotel and stole a quantity of liquor was revealed when Sergt. Carroll and Constable Wade, of Tokomaru Bay, brought three Maoris, Acosta, Ngatai and Huihui to town on Saturday morning to be held in custody at the Gisborne gaol until the next session of the Supreme Court when they will come up for sentence. At a sitting of the Court at Tokomaru Bay, the Native s admitted stealing 12 bottles of beer, one bottle of gin,' six bottles of whisky, and one bottle of schnapps, the property of the licensee of the Te Araroa Hotel It was disclosed that, on the night of January 17, the natives went to the hotoJ and, by the aid of a knife, removed the putty surrounding the glass of the bar window, removed the pane, entered the premises, packed up the liquor and left. The theft.was discovered the following morning, and the Maoris who had gone on a wild carousal with the booty were arrested.
