MARCH THE DANGER MONTHRIGID PRECAUTIONS IN N.Z. (United Press Association —Copy r'*t tit.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. In view of the approacn of March, the danger month or bubonic plague, stated the Health Minister to-day, instructions have been given to medical li dal tli officers in ail ports .-that ail precautions regarding' tne berth-'' ing of ships must he most rigidly carried out and supervised. He expected that this would receive the personal attention of medical officers themselves, though an inspector had been specially detailed tor each port for this work. The precautions include tlic fending off of ships at least four feet from wharves, tarring four feet of each hawser night and morning, and provision for effective hawser discs. ‘T am inquiring,” added the Minister, “into the complaint that, at one port, there has been neglect in not seeing that hawsers are freshly coated with tar evei-y dav according to instructions.” —P.A.
