AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE

A meeting of the committee of the P.B. Automobile Association was held on Tuesday afternoon; Mr J. C. Field occupied the chair. The New Zealand Motor Union asked for remits for consideration at the annual meeting of the union. It was resolved to draw attention to the necessity of dealing with _ the question of (a) glaring head-lights and the indiscriminate use of spotlights ; (b) the adoption of universal by-laws including the licensing of drivers; (c) universal danger signals; and (d) the compulsory removal of fences or hedges obstructing the vision at corners.

It was reported that no action had been taken with reference to the Association’s request for removals of the hedges at certain corners in Mangapapa. Mr Fenwick was asked to inquire into the matter.■lt was decided to ask the Gisborne Borough Council to have obstructing trees at the intersection of Childers and Stanley roads removed.

Mr W. M. Baylv was appointed secretary of the Association, vice Mr Crawshaw resigned.
