TURNED UP.
MISSING MAN'S NOCTURNAL WANDERINGS.
FOUND HIMSELF ON THE DECK
OF A BOAT,
Early yesterday morning it was reported to the police that a suit of clothes had 1 been discovered on the wharf, about fifty yards from the Haiti bridge. Correspondence found in the pockets of the’clothes indicated that they belonged to Samuel Pearson, who lias been a. resident of Gisborne for some years. Mrs Pearson communicated with Sub-inspector Cassells, intimating that her husband was missing, and an investigation was conducted along the waterfront by the police. At about 5.45 p.m. yesterday the police received a telephone message to say that Pearson had turned up, and wanted someone to go over and see him. Interviewed by Constable Morris, Pearson stated that he got up through the night and remembered nothing until finding himself on the deck of a boat-. He then went on to the wharf and saw someone whom he took to be the police, whereupon he ran over the Haiti bridge and hfd himself, shortly afterwards falling off to sleep. When he awoke at 10 in the morning, he decided to remain where he was until night. Pearson also informed the constable that lie felt alright and would not leave the house again, like he did on they. previous night.
