POSITION SAID TO BE QUITE SATISFACTORY.
Press Association Telegram. WELLINGTON. Dec. 2
During the week ended noon on December 1, seventy cases of influenza were reported in the Wellington Health District. Only four cases were of the pneumonic type, the remaining being classed as mud. Dr. Watt, District Health Officer, expressed the opinion that the position is quite satisfactory.
Unnecessary alarm is liable to be created in connection with the publication of notifications of pneumonia. In a recent list it was notified that there had been a case of pneumonic influenza locally. In strict fact, so a medical gentleman informed a Times reporter yesterday, it was only a simple case of pneumonia. That disease, no matter how mild the case, had now to he officially notified. He added that no cases of influenza in a severe form had arisen in this district.
