WINNERS OF HAWKE CUP
POVERTY
BAY TEAM RETURNS TO-DAY.
The Poverty Bay cricketers who have been successful in winning the Hawke Cup from Wanganui will arrive by the Arahura this morning. The Deputy Mayor (Mr. H. E. Hill) together with members of the Management Committee of the local Association, will meet, the team on arrival.
At the weekly meeting of the P.B. Association, held last evening, it was decided to play the final Cup match on Saturday between Kia Kalia and United at the Domain ana a keen contest is anticipated. The following is the position of the teams: —Kia Kaha, plus 5: United, plus 5; High School, plus 2; Civil Service, minus 12.
It is hoped to send a cricket team to Motu at Easter. Cricketers who will be able to make the trip are requested to communicate .with the secretary as early as possible.

HOME TEAM WIN ON FIRST INNINGS.

A cricket match between the Poverty Bay and the Napier teams was played to-day in perfect weather and on a good wicket. The visitors batting first were all out for 130 (Blair 30. W. Oates 36. Atkinson 24). Paterson took five wickets for 30 runs. O'Brien three for 53, and Hindmarsh two for 26. Napier replied with 251 for eight wickets (Hislop 43, Earney 39, Paterson 25, Johnson 25). Scholium took four wickets for 49. Coombe two for 47, W. Oates two for 56. Poverty Bay in their second innings lost three wickets for 97 (J. Oates 32, Reeves 25). Napier won by 121 runs on the firstinnings.
