A. novel tale is told in “The Secret Husband” or “Mary Jane’s Pa,” the Vitagraph drama to be screened at Everybody’s to-day. Marc McDermott. as a whimsical wanderer, has a role that absolutely suits him. He strolls away from his native town leaving his wife mud daughter to shift for themselves. He has no particular reason, except that he was taken suddenly by a desire to travel. He returns in much the surge way. and brings terrible disgrace and scandal upon his wife. She owns and is running with great earnestness and vim the local newspaper and is carrying on a fierce campaign against a crooked politician. She cannot turn Hiram away, and takes him on as a sort of hired man. This provides the tongues of the scandalmongers. The concluding scenes are full of surprises Led on by*the scheming politician, tlie townsfolk in a raging mob burn the newspaper office and make an attack on the heroine’s house. In this scene Marc McDermott, as the man who stems the attack, is .particularly fine. As supports the following films will be screened: ' “Bairnsfather’s Cartoons. No 4.” “The Gaumont Graphic,” and a ripping Vitagraph comedy entitled “Masks and Mishaps.” " PALACE PICTURES. Followers of the “Neglected Wife” Patlie’s greatest serial picture, will no doubt turn up in force at the Palace to-day and to-night to witness the screening of the fourth episode, entitled “Beyond Recall.” In _ this startling chapter Margaret A\ arner (Ruth Roland), realises that her love for Kennedy cannot be denied and bis wife _ for the first time realises Kennedy’s unfaithfulness. The star picture of this programme re-introduces patrons to dainty little Madge Evans, in the World film “The Adventures of Carol.” She is the daughter of a naval officer, who is haunted by spies, and lie tells her never to divulge her name. AY hen she becomes lost in New York, she remembers her father’s words, and encounters many startling adventures. Many remarkable scenes of the fertile Southern States pervade “The Adventures of Carol,” and the fact that the World’s most capable company was employed in the making of tho picture, speaks for itself. A particularly interesting Topical Budget completes this fine programme.
