ALARM AMONG NATIVES

The activity of Ngaruhoe continues. The New Zealand Herald’s correspondent telegraphs that there were several violent eruptions during the night, the ejection of boulders and lava being accompanied by vast masses of flame and smoke- The valley in the direction of Tongariro has been filled with lava emitted from a crevice opened in the upper wall of.the crater. The prolonged activity of the, volcano has created alarm, among the residents in the .neighborhood, whose houses are repeatedly shaken by the shock of the eruptions.
