NO ANNOUNCEMENT YET
MR WEBB PRESSED NOT TO RESIGN.
By Telegraph—Special Correspondent. WELLINGTON, Nov. 6. No news of Mr. Webb having fulfilled his avowed intention of resigning his seat was received by the Electoral Department to-day, hut there would have been barely time for the telegraphic correspondence to have passed 'between Mr. Webb and Mr. Speaker and from Mr. Speaker to the Department. It is reported, however, that some of Mr. Webb’s friends in Wellington have been pressing him not to resign, and it is-their opinion that when Mr. Webb arrives among his own people he will be still more Strongly - pressed to retain his seat.
AIR WEBB ASKED TO AGAIN CONTEST SEAT.
Press Association Telegram. GREYMOUTH, Nov. 6. A public meeting, held under the auspices of the Labor Representation Committee for the purpose of request-, ing Air Webb to again contest the Grey seat was attended by about 200 people. It passed a resolution,; “That this meeting requests Air AVebb to again contest the Grey Constituency in the interests of Labor.”
