At last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council tho Public Health Committee reported as follows: Your committee have to report that they inspected the tenements on tlie roadway Kaiti Beach, and have to recommend tliat the Council give all the present squatters on the roadway twenty-one days’ notice to remove all their camps. Your committee would also recommend that regulations be framed giving people the right to camp on the beach during the period from the Ist October to tho 31st March in each year (subject, of course, to a proviso that in case of a “mandamus” ordering removal being obtained against the Council that tlie license or permit cease and all structures must be immediately removed). Cane must also .be taken in granting these permits that full provision be made for proper sanitary arrangements, and wo would suggest that a deposit of 10s be taken in each case as a guarantee that this “and the removal of the camp.?' will be carried out. 'A fee of 5s might also be made to cover the cost of issuing permit.
