Dockers Refuse To Handle Soviet Cargoes In New York
NEW YORK, Aug. 24.
The district council of the American Federation of Labour International Longshoremen’s Association announced today there would be no further loading or unloading of Soviet cargoes in New York. The decision put the formal stamp of approval on the action already taken by branches of the union in refusing to handle several recent shipments of Soviet goods. The council deferred final action on cargoes from Soviet satellite countries.
