West Indies’ Easy Test Victory: 2--1 Lead In Rubber

(11 a.m.) LONDON, July 25. The West Indies won the third test against England by 10 wickets at Trent Bridge today. Their victory gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the series and with only one match left F~cy cannot lose the rubber. England’s second innings ended at lunch today with the West Indies set only 102 to make to win. The openers, Rae and Stollmeyer, had no difficulty in hitting up the score in under two hours.

The wicket-keeper, Godfrey Evans, batted splendidly for England this morning.

Dewes and Evans added 58 for the sixth wicket but the next four wickets put on only 28. An interesting record was created during this test. Alfred Valentine, the 20-year-old West Indies slow left-arm bowler, sent down 92 overs in England’s second innings—the greatest number ever bowled by any player during one innings of a test match. Valentine’s figures were 92 overs, 49 maidens, 140 runs, three wickets.
