ENGINEERING AND SANITATION CONFERENCES
The borough engineer, Mr. G. M. Beaumont, is to attend the next annual meeting and technical conference of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers in Christchurch in February, 1951. Authority to do so was granted by the Gisborne Borough Council last night. The conference affords the only opportunity during the year for engineers from different parts of the Dominion to exchange information and the fruits of experience, while the programme of technical papers, prepared with special cognisance and understanding of New Zealand conditions could not but be helpful, the council was Informed. Aid of this kind to engineers, it would be appreciated, is reflected in the service they are able to give to their mployers, a letter from the institute added.
The borough sanitary inspector, Mr. A. Denham, was granted permission to attend the next conference of the Royal Sanitary Institute, also to be held in Christchurch, from February 28 to March 2.
