Family Story
“Long Barrow” by Gwendoline Courtney (Oxford University Press), is a story of a city family who went for the first time in their lives to live in the depths of the country. How these town children react to their new environment, how they find their own entertainment, and the way in which their characters were moulded by their experiences is the theme of this pleasant family story. William Colt MacDonald, the author of a number of western novels, has written a new story entitled Master of the Mesa” (Hodder and Stoughton). It tells of Hawk Neilson, the most powerful and ruthless man on the range, of his tyranny, of the men whom he had crushed, and of those from whom he had stolen. This is the fifth edition of Dr. Ulric Williams’ well-known book “Health and Healing in the New Age” (A. H. and A W. Reed). It sets outs in a more expanded form Dr. Williams’ theories on health and healing and there is a section on what appear to be excellent recipes.
