Maoris v. Pakehas Match
The decision of the P. B. Rugbv Union to play a Maoris v. Pakehas match to close the current season is a good one. Such matches are not uncommon in a number of other centres and it is sur prising that fixtures of the kind have not of recent years found a place in the season's programme in Gisborne. A side selected from Maoris playing Rugby in the union would appear on naper to be a strong one. Maori All Black nominees. K. Bullivant. W. Brown and S. Whaanga and B Brown ffive-eightht. former Maori All Blacks. W. and E. Carrington, the promising Y.M.P. backs. A. Tureia. F. .Tones and R. Whaanga. and the Celtic forwards. R. Christie and Pere. are some of the names which should be appearing in the Maori side.
