BOYS’ BRIGADE COMPANIES STAGE SPORTS IN WAIROA
About 120 boys from Napier, Hastings, Wairoa and Gisborne took part in a meeting of the Boys’ Brigade in Wairoa on Saturday. The boys participated in an impressive display of marching when they paraded. The parade was led by the Wairoa Municipal Band, assisted by the Hastings Company Bugle Eand.
The First Wairoa Company xvon a drill competition for the Drill Shield. The First Hastings Company was second, and the Second and Sixth Gisborne companies tied for third place.
During the afternoon there was a sports programme at Lambton Square under the auspices of the Wairoa Amateur Athletic and Cycling Association. This was the first occasion on which inter-company sports had been held. Results:— Senior 100 yards.—Petherick, Hastings. 1.
