OFFICERS ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING OF GISBORNE Y.M.C.A.
There was a large attendance of members and supporters of the Gisborne and East Coast Y.M.C.A. at the annual meeting, which was held in the memorial lounge on Wednesday evening.
Prior to the opening of the meeting, those present had the opportunity of watching a vaulting display by members of the boys’ gymnastic class. The skill and neatness of the team earned hearty applause. Due to the absence through sickness of the president, Mr. R. I. Crafts, Dr. C. Isaac was in the chair. A devotional talk following the opening prayer was given by Pastor J. P. Henderson, chairman of the association’s religious and educational committee.
Ail present stood in silent tribute to the late Messrs. F. T. Robinson and H. J. Poole, both of whom were life members of the association and had given outstanding Christian service to the cause of youth in this district. The guest speaker was Mr. Geo. F. Briggs, Wellington, assistant national secretary of the Y.M.C.A., who gave a stirring address to an appreciative audience.
The following officers of the Gisborne association were elected: Patron, Mr. A. B. Williams; president, Dr. C. Isaac; vice-presidents. Messrs. R'. I. Crafts and R. H. March; hon. secretary, Mr. C. V. Hogarth; hon. treasurer, Mr. H. A. R, Patterson; hon. auditor, Mr. E. T. Gardner.
After the meeting supper was served and an opportunity given to those present to meet Mr. Briggs.
