Australian Rowing Crews Best Since War

(P-A > AUCKLAND. Jan. 17. The Australian Empire Games rowing four will arrive here by air on Sunday morning and go straight to Karapiro for a row in the afternoon. The team’s boats, oars and gear arrived in the Wanganella yesterday with the manager. Mr E. Kenny.

Mr. Kenny said yesterday that the four was likely to cause comment among oarsmen as it uses an off-shoot of the much discussed Fairbairn style. The oarsmen row with more comfort than if lor ks. hands wide apart, elbows out. bodies often slumped and in the opinion of Mr. Kenny, the shoulder and leg work was not properly synchronised.

Apart from this four the remainder of the Australian team were orthodox oarsmen and scullers and he considers the crews the best to represent Australia since the war.
