Sth. Australia Agrees To Petrol Rationing

ADELAIDE, Sept. 3.

The Premier of South Australia, Mr. Plavford. announced that South Australia would support the reintroduction of metrol rationing. . . He told the Federal Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chifiey, that legislation would be introduced in South Australia to transfer the necessary powers to the Commonwealth for two years. The Victorian Cabinet was to have decided a fortnight ago to take similar action to South Australia’s but it suspended action until the possibility of importing petrol from Russia was explored. Other States have said they are willing to agree to the reimposition or rationing providing that all the States agree and the Commonwealth administers the system.
