Southland Tourist Bookings A Record
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 13. The Invercargill office of the Tourist Department has 300 advanced bookings covering from now until after the New Year.
Many resorts are booked out for the Christmas and New Year period. Since April 1 the office has shown an increase in business of 36J per cent, on last year's figures during' the same period. Mr. C. A. Humphrey, manager, said that a proportion of the increase could be attributed to the fact that hotel tariffs had been increased. There would nevertheless still be an increase for the period of about 25 per cent. The figures for this year constituted a record.
