TIME LIMIT PENDING TO ADJUST PRICES TO NEW EXCHANGE RATE
(P.A.) WELLINGTON April 6. It is expected that the Price Tribunal will make an early announcement of deadlines for reductions in the prices of goods and merchandise still unsold which came into New Zealand before the exchange adjustment on August 19. so as to bring them into line with the prices fixed for similar goods imported after that date.
Discussions on the subject have already taken place between officials of the tribunal and various trading interests affected. After the New Zealand currency had been brought to parity with sterling, the Minister of Industries and Commerce. Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer, announced' that deadlines would be fixed after the lapse of a reasonable time for the clearance of goods imported before the alteration to the exchange rate.
