Invasion of Crows
Country residents at Pourerere and other coastal districts in the vicinity of Waipawa, are becoming increasingly alarmed at the sudden invasion of huge numbers of crows from the north. These unwelcome visitors apparently are' refugees from Hcretaunga and Havelock North, whore orchardists and other commercial growers made a determined effort recently to destroy nests and kill as many of the adult birds as possible. The result is, «lhat these pests, which have not been seen in the Waipawa area before, are arriving every day in alarming numbers, and already have caused damage to some orchards and crops.
