WESTERNERS’ EXODUS FROM CHINA
BRISBANE, Mar. 7 “The British and Americans are getting out of China while the going is good,” said Mr. Richard Hannigan, official of the British-Australia Tobacco Company, who arrived in Brisbane from Hong Kong yesterday. “If anyone still thinks'Moscow does not control China he is sadly mistaken. I am finished. I shall retire here in Australia.”
An American missionary, Dr. W. Carbury, also said he had left China forever after 40 years' work there. “The Reds are on the fringe of Hong Kong,” he added. "They will demand it back from Britain, maybe sooner than we expect.”
