BOOTH FACILITIES CLARIFIED BY OFFICERS

WEDNESDAY’S POLL

The returning officers for Gisborne and Eastern Maori electorates have requested that the position regarding Maori voting at the gaming and licensing polls on Wednesday be clarified. The Maori polling places listed below have been retained by the Eastern Maori returning officer and are available to Maori voters only: Ruakapanga meeting house, Hiruharama Maori School, Horoera Runanga House, Mangaharrea dining hall, Hinemaurea meeting house, East Cape Public School. Puketawai meeting house, Rangitukia Maori Schoot. Rcporua Maori School, Waipiro Bay Runanga House. Pokai dining-hall, Tuparoa Maori School, Waihirere Runanga House, Porourangi meeting house, Takitimu meeting house Whakawhitira Maori School, Whareponga Maori School. Y.M.C.A Gisborne. At the following places the Eastern Maori booth has been incorporated with the European polling place for the Gisborne electorate: Anaura Maori School, Cape Runaway Maori School, Haulanoa Library and Sports Club room, Hicks Bay Maori School, Ihungia School building. Makaraka School, Makar'ka Public School. Mangatu School building, Mangatuna Maori School. Matarau station Matawai Public School, Potaka Maori School, Pouawa School building, Puha Public School, Ruatoria Gaiety Theatre supper-room, Tauwhareparae Public School, Te Araroa Maori School. Te Puia County chambers, Te Karaka District High School, Tikitiki Maori School, Tokata Maori School, Tokomaru Bay Public School, Waimata Valley Public School, Waipiro Bay Maori School, Wairongomai Maori School, Whakaangiangi Maori School, Whangara Maori School, Wheterau Public School. The booths in the two lists .above have been, fully supplied to cater for the Maori vote and Maori voters are requested wherever reasonably practicable to vote at these booths. A limited quantity of Maori voting material has been supplied to all other European booths to provide for Maori voters tin able to attend at the usual Maori polling places. Maori electors voting in Gisborne should patronise the Y.M.C.A. Hall, where two special Maori booths arc provided.
