RACE OFFICIALS IN A DILEMMA
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. Mar. 7.
Race officials at Pukekolie on Saturday found themselves in a '•dilemma. Tile race card showed that the trophy for the Franklin Cup Handicap—a silver tea service valued at £so—had been won by the anonymous donor of the trophy. When Regal Praise won the Cup race last year for the second year in succession the owner, Mr. E. R. Worth left a cheque for this year’s trophy, little thinking that he would win it again this year. Mr. Worth on Saturday requested that the trophy go to the owners of the second horse, Messrs. Stevenson Brothers, but they declined, saying that Mr. Worth was the winner. Mr. Worth then left another cheque for £SO for a trophy next year.
