Injured Man Rushed To Hospital From Fiordland
,P a.) DUNEDIN, Mar. 7. A 2fio-mile dash by car and launch ended at 1 o'clock this morning for Mr. Ken Myers, deputy-manager of the fiordland expedition’s Stillwater camp when he entered the Gore Hospital with an injured hand.
Mr. Myers slipped on a rocky track when he was out after wapiti ort Saturday and Injured his hand and wrist badly. He was given attention by the camp medical orderly, Sergeant Farrell, of the Army, and a radio call was put out from the camp to the launen Alert lying at Milford Sound. The Alert put to sea within a short time for Caswell Sound, where Mr Myers was taken aboard and then a fast night run was made to Milford Sound. From the Sound the patient was taken by truck through the tunnel to _ the Homer camp, where a car was waiting for him, and so to Gore and hospital. An offer was made over the radio by a Queestown pilot, Mr. F. J. Lucas, to fly Mr. Myers out from Te Anau, but the weather in the area was bad yesterday with low cloud and driving rain.
Mr. Myers' condition was reported today to be satisfactory.
