CHANGE IN CHIEF EXECUTIVE POSTS OF GUN DOG CLUB

The retirement of the 1948 president, Mr. A. L. Campbell, and the 1948 hon. secretary, Mrs. E. S. Redfearn, was marked'at the annual meeting of the Gisborne Gun Dog Club, held recently, by warm compliments from the general membership on their conduct of _ the chief executive offices over long periods. The meeting received with satisfaction a report upon the past year s activities, in the course of which congratulations were extended to winners of leading trophies and championships, and appreciation expressed to donors of trophies, including Mesrs. W Gregory, Lower Hutt, H. Gilmer and G. Nossiter, each of whom presented a handsome cup for competition with the club membership. Mr. Ken Cameron was also thanked for making trial courses available to the club, and for hearty co-operation in all its activities. Young Dogs of Great Promise Trials held during the year were well attended, it was recorded, and district dogs were found to be improving steadily in their competition work, an encouraging feature being the emergence of a number of young dogs with great promise. ... Growing membership and a creau balance of £22 offered guarantees of a bright, future for the club, the report stated. Interest in the club’s activities had spread far beyond Gisborne, and visitors to its trials had included during the past year the president ol the New Zealand Kennel Club and gundog trial executive. A number of new members were elected, including some junior members whose interest was warmly welcomed. An ambitious programme was mapped out for the coming year, with the object of placing the Gisborne club among the leaders of the gun-dog movement throughout New Zealand.
