AUCKLAND EDUCATION BOARD’S PROGRAMME

<P-A.) AUCKLAND, Mar 4. Commenting on the board’s £2,000,000 works programme for the next two years, the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. G. K. Hamilton, said today that it was hardly likely that all the projects could be undertaken within that period.

The list was tentatively prepared for the information of the board last Wednesday so that decisions could be made as to which needs could be met during the two financial years. However, he added, the board would have the greatest difficulty in deleting any one item. The completed list did not include a large volume of site development work. Provision was not made for new post-primary schools in the Auckland urban area, or for new manual training schools needed throughout the province.
