Suppression Of Name Refused
“If I suppress his name lie will have no punishment at all, as I intend to admit him to probation. It will be more honest to the public if they are made aware of this offence,” stated Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M., when in the Upper Hutt Court. Frank Bennett Beard, aged 39. machinist, of Taita, was charged with theft. Senior Detective W. McLennan stated that as secretary of the Avery Community Kindergarten Society, the accused had drawn £32 19s lOd for the purpose of • paying accounts, but had failed to do so and used the money himself. The accused was admitted to probation for 12 months, ordered to take out a prohibition order, and make restitution.
