SHEEP VALUES UP AT WESTFIELD: BEEF RATES EASE

AUCKLAND, Dec. 16
There was a very heavy yarding of calves at the Westfield stock markets yesterday and although the quality was generally first class, the demand was not keen and values for all classes were lower than last week. One outstanding hcavv runner realised 618 12s fid. Beef was penned in average numbers and there was a steady demand with values inclined to ease, heavier cattle being mostly affected.
Values for sheen were firm and improved on last week's sale. Sheep were penned in less than average numbers and there was ready competition Lambs met with a ready sale and sold at from Cl Ills to £2. There was a good yarding of pigs with all fat prices firm. AH oversupply of stores was sold at cheapci rates and choppers also eased slightly Overweight pigs were hard to quit Cattle. —Extra choice ox to £3 10s pci 1001 b: choice and prime C 3 4s to C 3 9s; ordinary.
