SPORTS EVENTS KEEN AT PUBLIC SERVICE PICNIC REVIVAL
The Public Service Association’s first post-war annual picnic in Gisborne held at the Waihirere Domain was a great success. Perfect weather prevailed and the occasion proved highly enjoyable. Children's races were held in the morning and events for adults in the afternoon. Results of the events for adults follow; Men’s 100 yards: C. Davidson, 1: W. Bignell. 2. Women's 50 yards: Mrs. BrifTault. 1; Mrs. Odams, 2. Women’s 100 yards: Miss F. McDonald, 1; Miss P. Hitchiner, 2. Three legged race: Anderson and Miss Lockwood, 1; Cookson and Miss Blane, 2. Egg and Spoon, Men's: L. Ashwell, 1: B. Gibson, 2. Egg and Spoon. Women's: S. Lockwood, 1; Mrs. Odams, 2; Sack race. Men: W. Coo’kson, 1; R. Shelton, 2. Sack race, Women: P. Hogan, 1; Mrs. Odams. 2. Wheelbarrow race: Thomson and Miss Barradell. 1; Odams and Mrs. Odams, 2. Swimming, Men: G. Odams (jnr.) 1; B. BrifTault 2. Swimming, Women: Miss J. Marshall, 1; Miss S. Lockwood, 2.
