N.Z. PILOT’S RECORD ATLANTIC CROSSINGS
LONDON, Dec. 13. When Captain W. J. Craig, commander of 8.0.A.C.’s Constellation Baltimore, landed at London airport tonight he became the first airline pilot in the world to complete 100 Atlantic crossings by flying-boat and 100 by land plane.
Captain Craig, who was born in Lancashire went to Wanganui, N.Z., with his parents when one year old. He joined the R.A.F. in England in 1931. During the Second World War he served against the Japanese and returned to 8.0.A.C. in 1942 and commanded Boeing flying-boats on the Atlantic route.
