GERMAN CRITICISM MUST BE QUELLED
(10.50 a.m.) BERLIN, Dec. 12. The time had come to quell unfounded German criticism of the occupation, said Major-General Bishop, British Regional Commissioner for the Ruhr and the Rhineland.
He was referring to charges that Britain was making unnecessary demands on the German economy. The occupation costs, about which there was “a rising uproar,” were only fractions of the sums being pumped into Germany by the European recovery programme and the British and American Parliamentary votes.
