Financial Shock For Delegates
SYDNEY, Dec. 11
Delegates to the Economic Commission on Asia and Far East conference, about to leave Lapstone, have had a financial shock. The delegates were amazed to find that they are not only expected to pay for the rooms which they had been occupying as offices at Lapstone Hotel during the past two weeks, but are also being charged at full inclusive board rates for every theoretical bed in these office rooms. Some delegates had believed that such accommodation was arranged by the Commonwealth as the host Government to the conference,
At previous conferences the arrangements were: At Shanghai, delegates lived in their hotel and paid normal ruling rates. At Baguio, Philippines, they were the guests of the Philippines Government which paid for everything. At the last session at Ootacamond, India, their accommodation was paid for by the Indian Government but they paid for their own food.
