Volunteers Clearing Strike-Bound Mails
(11 a m.) LONDON, Dec- 12. To helD to clear the huge congestion of parcels at Euston station caused by the unofficial strike which started seven days ago, 178 railway workers, including clerks and members of the station staff who would normally have been off duty, have volunteered their services. They hope to clear 13,000 mailbags by four special trains scheduled to run to the Midlands and North of England. The volunteers also began unloading 30 vans of incoming overseas mail and started sorting 10,000 parcels ready for delivery. Large accumulations of parcels and mailbags blocked the arrival platforms.
